    entered a team in Devon leagues.

        old & enjoy playing team Squash?
 We have started new coaching called
 
ADULT SQUASH
Adults playing squash whether you want
To play for fun or play team squash.

Any stranded are welcome so come &
have fun playing squash.

Playing for the Devon Team Leagues


The Juniors sessions are on Tuesday & Thursday
                    from 3.45 – 4.45 Juniors
       Adults any time during the day & evening.
All sessions are held at Okehampton Squash Club
                         Or at your own Club.

Ten Tors 2009 PDF Print E-mail
Things to Do

The Ten Tors event - takes place one weekend in May, every year, and is now limited to 2400 individuals - 400 teams of six teenagers. The teams, depending on age and ability, face hikes of 35, 45 or 55 miles between ten nominated Tors over two days. The intention is that the teams shall be self-sufficient, carrying everything they need to survive two days on the Moor.

The 2009 Ten Tors Chalenge is to take place between the 9th and 10th of May 2009.

What's On?

On the third Saturday of every month the Okehampton Farmers' Market stands in the centre of the town spread around St James' Chapel square.  Okehampton is a short distance off the A30 main arterial highway.

The market runs from 9:00 am until 1:30 pm.

Okehampton Farmers' Market has 20 stalls of local foods & crafts. You will find pork and pork products, free range chicken, venison, ostrich meat and products, lamb, beef and game in season. Fresh fish (weather permitting) and beer. Luxury pâtés, cheeses, preserves, honey, apple juices and cider. Bread, cakes and chocolates. Vegetables and fruit in season. Free range eggs, yogurt. Herbs, herbaceous and perennial plants.

Museum of Dartmoor Life PDF Print E-mail

LogoThe museum opened in 1982 when - with a growing collection of local objects to be housed and displayed - a group of volunteers raised funds to purchase the present site and its empty, derelict buildings. Much time and effort was then put in to refurbish the buildings for their new role.

Having opened to the public, over the years further enhancements and additions to displays, galleries and facilities have taken place to win awards and provide the present services and representations of Dartmoor’s history.

Parklands Leisure CentreOkehampton’s £4.2 million Parklands Leisure Centre is (to date) the largest project ever undertaken by West Devon Borough Council and has been partially financed by a £3.2 million grant from the Sports Lottery. The grant was the second largest ever awarded to the region.

Situated within Simmons Park in the centre of town, Parklands Leisure Centre has something for everyone, offering a wide range of facilities and activities.

Facilities include a four-lane, 25m swimming pool with a movable floor, a four court sports hall, 35-station fitness suite, aerobics studio, crèche and function room.

Okehampton Castle PDF Print E-mail

Okehampton CastleThe remains of the largest castle in Devon, in an outstandingly picturesque setting on a wooded spur above the rushing River Okement. Begun soon after the Norman Conquest as a motte and bailey castle with a stone keep, it was converted into a sumptuous residence in the 14th century by Hugh Courtenay, Earl of Devon, much of whose work survives. After the last Courtenay owner fell foul of Henry VIII in 1538, it declined into an allegedly haunted ruin. Riverside picnic area and woodland walks nearby.
